VIDEO: Push and Pull - Free Trade and the Immigration Debate

* IF VIDEO TAKES TOO LONG TO DOWNLOAD THERE ARE TOO MANY PEOPLE TRYING TO DOWNLOAD IT AT ONCE. TRY AGAIN LATER. I PROMISE IT'S WORTH THE WAIT! *

As the dramatic immigration debate returns to the national stage with the President's new push to overhaul immigration policy, American photojournalist, David Bacon, and Mexican social activist, Juan Manuel Sandoval, come together from both sides of the border for a national speaking tour that moves beyond the debate to discuss roots causes and real reforms. Bacon and Sandoval will share firsthand accounts, years of analysis and vivid photographs of the immigrant experience with American communities bombarded by political rhetoric and little real information.

More and more Americans, tired of divisive politicking over immigration, are asking: Why are ever more Mexicans leaving home for a risky life abroad; why can't Mexico's government and economy produce opportunities at home for Mexican workers and farmers; and is immigration reform just a temporary band-aid? From their years compiling research, teaching and organizing on both sides of the border, Bacon and Sandoval are uniquely positioned to highlight the realities of immigrants here in the United States and of Mexicans still living in Mexico, and to shed light on these complex and controversial questions that are set to shape the futures of both countries.
