Directed by Cle "Bone" Sloan, a longtime member of the Bloods, the film
traces the roots of black gang violence in LA, from slavery to the FBI-led fall of
the Black Panthers and other black power political parties of the 60's - where "out
of the ashes" rises the Bloods and the Crips: the Bastards of the Party. This
powerful, award winning film, produced by Antone Fuqua (director of Training Day),
is an insightful exploration of the corruption of revolution from without and
within.
Beginning with his question, "I wondered how we ended up killing each other," Sloan leads us on his own personal journey to better understand the tragedy that our racism has engendered in his cinematic call for change.
